Michael Barker serves as the Managing Director of the firm, which maintains offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix. Since founding Barker Pacific Group in 1983, Michael Barker has directed the development of over $1.5 billion in commercial projects. His active focus is the acquisition, development, and management of pre-leased residential and commercial projects. Over the past 36 years, he has overseen the development of major projects in such cities as Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, San Jose, Phoenix, Houston, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale. Before starting Barker Pacific Group, Michael was an officer at Hines Interests. During his 10 years at Hines, he headed up development of over 4 million square feet of office space in Tulsa, Houston, and San Antonio. He also co-founded an asset management firm, First Houston Trust Company, in 1970. From 1968 to 1970, he served as a lending officer in the Energy Department of Citibank, New York. Michael is a member of the Board of Pepperdine University, Vice Chairman and head of the Investment Committee for the John Tracy Clinic and an active member of the Urban Land Institute, and Lambda Alpha International. Mr. Barker holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BBA from Abilene Christian University.
